Home dog daycare

Your dog comes home calm and settled, not overstimulated.

Small-group home dog daycare built around rest, for working professionals who want to pick up a settled dog at the end of the day.

We are opening with founding clients. No dogs are enrolled yet, and we say so plainly.

The quiet day

A day built around rest, written down and published.

Every Calm Day follows the same structure in the founder's home: rest blocks, gentle play cycles and a small capped group. We publish it so you know what your dog's day looks like before you book.

All-day open play

Fun for some dogs, a lot for many.

Hours of open play can overstimulate a dog, and they come home wired instead of rested.

Our way

Rest first, play in small doses.

Rest and play cycles in a small group, so your dog comes home calm and settled, not overstimulated.

  1. A dog settling in at the entryway of a city home in soft daytime light, a leash on a hook and a folded blanket nearby

    Arrival

Owner drop-off at the door. We say hello slowly, and your dog comes in at their own pace.

  2. Dogs resting with soft eyes on a worn sofa and a floor cushion in a quiet living room

    Rest block

Rest is built into the day. Your dog settles on a couch or a cushion while the house stays quiet.

  3. Dogs at gentle play on a wood floor in a home, relaxed and unhurried in natural window light

    Quiet play

Short, gentle play cycles in a small capped group. Then it is back to rest.

  4. A calm, settled dog on a dog bed by the entryway of a home, ready to go home at the end of the day

    Pick-up

Owner pick-up at the door. You collect a dog who is calm and settled, not overstimulated.

You see how the day went. Even on the ordinary ones.

Every day ends with a daily photo and a short note, ordinary days included.

Our promises

Four promises that keep the day quiet

Home dog daycare works when the house stays calm. These are the four things we hold to, and what each one means for your dog.

A quiet corner of a city home with a dog bed, a folded linen blanket and soft window light
  • A small, capped group

We keep the group small. The house stays quiet, and you pick up a settled dog.

  • Rest blocks in every day

Rest is built into the day, so your dog comes home calm and settled, not overstimulated.

  • Slow introductions, a written care plan

Every dog meets the house at its own pace. The Settle-In Trial ends with a written care plan.

  • A daily photo and short note

You see how the day went, on the ordinary days too. No report card, just a daily note.

All-day open play is not the only way. A quiet day built around rest is another, and it is the one we offer.

If a dog is not a fit for a quiet day, we tell you plainly.

A note from the founder

A quiet day, started in my own home

The founder sitting low on the wood floor of her home, letting a calm dog come to her at its own pace
Introductions go at the dog's pace.

I've always wanted to work with dogs. Second Couch is how I'm doing it: a small, quiet daycare in my own home, built around rest.

I'll be plain about where we are. The house is still being set up, and no dogs are enrolled yet. Our first clients will be founding clients: friends, family, neighbours and the local vet.

That suits me. It means every dog gets a slow introduction, and I get to learn each routine properly before the days fill up.

I want your dog to come home calm and settled, not overstimulated.

The founder, Second Couch

How it starts

Will your dog fit? We find out slowly, together.

Introductions are slow. We meet first, then spend a half day together, and only then book a full day. If daycare does not suit your dog, we tell you honestly.
